Dance and Music for Youth Empowerment in San Miniato

Dance and Music for Youth Empowerment - Nuovi Orizzonti

"Dance and Music for Youth Empowerment" will be held in San Miniato from today 24 until Sunday 30 April.

The project will lead to the convent of San Francesco 30 boys from 6 different nations, called to work together in music and dance workshops, with a final show open to everyone scheduled for Saturday 29.

The initiative is organized by the association “Nuovi Orizzonti”, under the Erasmus program promoted by the European Community. The goal of Erasmus is to create contact opportunities among young people, also to stimulate the birth of a common culture.  For this reason, New Horizons decided to apply mainly to Eastern European countries: Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Romania and Greece, through the collaboration of as many local associations, called to choose each of the five boys to send to San Miniato.

The 25 young people from abroad, all aged between 18 and 25, will be joined by another 5 Italians chosen by New Horizons.

For each group, 3 out of 5 youngs came from a social marginalization experience, and at the same time 3 of them also had skills in music and dance.

In the afternoon of Saturday 29, at 17, they will perform in a show open to everyone in the former mill of the convent. The event will be attended by local institutions and is addressed to all citizenship.

"Dance and Music for Youth Empowerment" si terrà a San Miniato da oggi 24 a domenica 30 aprile.
