Many of the most famous mankind experts, even the most secular ones, stress that the human person reaches his maturity when you open and selfless altruistic love towards others and tends to give lifeconsacr_voti_08 a meaning that goes beyond the boundaries of materials reality.Love is indeed a spiritual reality: it is not scientifically verifiable, but if they see its effects and is critical for development and for the happiness of man.

One of the founding fathers of psychology, Carl Jung, emphasized the spiritual dimension of the human person, and after him all the humanistic psychologists did as well.
Apart from what was written, New Horizons has been experiencing how a serious spiritual path may change and heal people, producing deeper and more lasting effects than any other method of growth. For this reason, our centres offer a spiritual path which is joyfully welcomed and accepted by those people who have already lost any glimmer of faith: up to that time they had been unconsciously and thirstily searching for the Absolute that has always characterized the man.
At New Horizons houses each day starts with a shared reading of the Gospel. Everybody attending the meeting may freely speak; they eventually choose a sentence to live during the day, being aware that the sentences of the Gospel contain a wisdom that helps to overcome everyone’s limitations.
In the centre of each day, as well as of the path of self-knowledge and healing (from the New Horizons program) is the prayer.

Those who live out of the community support the many activities with the Cenacoli di Preghiera ("Cenacles of Prayer"), that are about 200 and growing, both in Italy andcroce_don_salvat abroad.

Many community members wanted to devote themselves with the desire to make their life a thank you of love to the love of God. Thus the "Associazione privata di fedeli Nuovi Orizzonti" was created, later approved by Cardinal Ruini on 10th March 1997. The general aim of the Association is the holiness of its members who are committed to bringing love to those who haven't known love, and bringing life to those who are in death, the joy of the Resurrection to those who feel desperate. It is a commitment of devotion to God open to all stages of life (celibacy, marriage, priesthood, religious life…), which pays close attention to the mystery of Jesus' descent into hell and his Resurrection. The members of the community who take this commitment to total surrender to God with promises of poverty, chastity, obedience and joy are called Piccoli della Gioia ("Lowly of Joy"). In fact, the specific vocation of all the Lowly of Joy is just to witness that Christ came to give us the "fullness of his joy" (Jn 17:13): "Abide in my love, if you keep my commandments ye shall abide in my love .. . I tell you these things so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be full "(Jn 15.8 to 11).
