1993
  • Opening of the Centre for Social Secretariat at the premises of Termini station in Rome.
  • Foundation of the non-profit voluntary association Nuovi Orizzonti.
  • Street teams intervening in favour of street people.
1994
  • Opening of the first welcome residence in Trigoria (Rome).
  • Starting monthly training meetings for all friends and sympathisers of the Association in Rome.
  • Participation in meetings for young people, television programmes, actions of prevention in schools.
1995
  • First premières of the musical "Stazione Termini" and creation of small events for prevention.
  • Intensification of activities of animation and of social secretariat on the street.
1997
  • Transfer of the community from Trigoria to Piglio (Frosinone) in the Convent of the Friars Minor, which becomes structure of welcome, training centre and the headquarters of the New Horizons Community.
  • Recognition of the Private association of the faithful "New Horizons" by Cardinal Camillo Ruini, Vicar General of the Holy Father.
  • Launch of the project "Cittadella Cielo" (Sky Citadel) in Italy.
1998
  • Collaboration with other associations for the opening of a shelter for street children in Colombia. 
  • Systematic organisation of street work in Rome.
  • Opening the welcome residence "Arcobaleno dell'amore" in Rome at the premises of the parish of Sts. Fabian and Venantius in Rome with the support of Don Andrea Santoro (martyred in Turkey on February 5th 2006).
  • Launch of the first street missions in Rome in areas at risk.
1999
  • Opening a new location at the Capuchin Convent in Montevarchi (Arezzo).
  • Intensification of efforts at prevention (in schools and youth gathering places) and establishment of new fixed and mobile counselling centres.
2000
  • Establishment of the social cooperative "Ali Blu", aiming at work re-inclusion for welcomed young people.
  • Collaborations with the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Ministry of Labour, in favour of the institutional activities of the Community.
  • Opening a welcome centre for women at Altipiani di Arcinazzo (Roma).
  • Starting the missions in Brazil (in Quixadá and Fortaleza) and in Bosnia for the realisation of three "Sky Citadels".
2001
  • Opening 4 welcome residences and counselling centres in Brazil (Quixadá).
  • Opening a welcome residence in S. Vito Romano.
  • Establishment of the Evangelization Centre for the annual planning of the prevention and sensitisation activities all over Italy.
2002
  • Increase in the number of activities of Social Secretariat, street animation, prevention and sensitisation about social problems in schools and youth gathering places.
  • Launch of the building of the residence centre in Međugorje - Bosnia.
  • Opening the counselling centre "Rejoyce" in Frosinone.
  • Opening of the welcome residence for women "Casa Gioia" in Marino (Rome).
2003
  • Launch of the project "Luci d'Arcobaleno nella notte" in Rome, financed by the Region of Lazio, in order to promote night welcome of youth in difficulty met on the street; Launch of the project "Novos Horizontes" financed by the Italian Episcopal Conference for the building of a "fazenda" for street children in Quixadá, Brazil.
  • Opening a new welcome centre "Casa S. Francesco" in Pistoia.
  • Increase in the number of street missions in Rome, Frosinone, Verora, etc. First summer mission in Riccione.
2004
  • Aperture:
    • Counselling centre "Casa Isacco" in Rovereto.
    • Counselling and training centre in Padova.
    • Centre for re-incorporation in society in Pistoia.
    • Centre for re-incorporation in society in Acuto (Frosinone).
    • Counselling, prevention and sensitisation centre in Rome, Piazzale Clodio.
  • Increase in the number of street missions in Rome, Riccione, Cattolica, Frosinone, Verona, Massa Carrara, Campi Bisenzio, Apulia and of the micro-missions in many Italian and Brazilian cities (Quixadá, Quixeramobim, Fortaleza, Russas, Boa Viagem).
  • Launch of the project "Cittadella Cielo in Frosinone.
  • Chiara Amirante was appointed Consultor of the Pontifical Council for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant People.
2005
  • Increase in the number of activities of the association in the Regions of Trentino-Alto Adige, Veneto and Lombardy.
  • Opening of a new centre "Casa luce sul monte" in Bellaria di Cei, Trento.
  • Extension to the headquarters in Međugorje (Bosnia) and activation of the welcome residence and the launch of the counselling centre.
  • In Brazil:
    • extension to the Sky Citadel "Rainha do Sertão" (Quixadá) with new welcome residences;
    • launch of the building of the Sky Citadel in Fortaleza.
  • Fund-raising and projects increase to support the association.
2006
  • Organisation and planning of fund-raising campaigns to build new "Sky Citadels".
  • Establishment of an internal governance structure assisted by an Executive Committee and a Scientific Board.
2007
  • Openings:
    • Permanent training and evangelisation centre in Guidonia (Rome).
    • Centre for prevention, sensitisation and training in Belpiano/Chiavari (Genoa).
    • Welcome residence for women in Grottaferrata (Rome).
    • Welcome and evangelisation residence "Giovanni Paolo II" in Ischia (more precisely Scentone di Forio).
  • Launch of welcome and training activities at our centre in Bellaria di Cei (TN).
  • "Lo Sport romano con Nuovi Orizzonti": fund-raising initiative in favour of the project "Cittadella Cielo".
  • Extension of fund-raising actions for "Cittadelle Cielo" under construction in all major Italian cities.
2008
  • Opening of "Casa Magnificat" for child custody in Padua.
  • Procedures for Accreditation of the Association for training; increase in the number of training activities in many branches in Italy.
  • Increase in collaborations with public bodies, associations and private citizens committed to social involvement.
  • Reorganisation of the headquarters into Areas of Intervention and Management Operation System.
2009
  • Opening of the Sky Citadel "Horizons Peace" (June 27) in Zvirovici, in Čapljina municipality (in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, as Mostar), with a course of spiritual exercises taught by Chiara Amirante for 800 people, followed by summer training;
  • Reconstruction work at "Cittadella Cielo" (Frosinone): demolition of the building and site preparation to begin the reconstruction.
And now?
Centres and activities increase so rapidly that today Nuovi Orizzonti is a really complex organisation: many activities and initiatives live together and intertwine. All of them were born from love, in order to respond to requests for aid from many young people in difficulty.
